Math Games is a set of short mental-maths games for iPhone, iPad, Mac and the web. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. You can play without an account, and we do not sell your personal information.

Who we are

Math Games is made by Playtests (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal information described here. For anything privacy-related, email playtestsco@gmail.com.

What we collect

What we collect depends on how you use Math Games.

  • Nothing, if you play without an account. Your scores, streaks and settings stay on your own device (or in your browser's local storage on the website).
  • Account details, if you create an account: your email address (or the private relay address from Sign in with Apple), a username you choose, and a permanent account ID.
  • Progress backup, if you sign in to the app: your scores, accuracy, streaks, stats and game history are saved to your account so they can be restored if you reinstall the app or move to a new phone. On the website, progress stays in your browser.
  • Social data, if you use Friends and Challenges: your username, who you are friends with, and the challenges you send and receive. Friends can see your username and the scores in challenges you share with them.
  • Purchase information, if you subscribe to Math Games Pro: whether you hold an active subscription, which plan, and when it renews or ends. We never see or store your card details. Apple handles payment.
  • Usage and device information: which screens and features are used, app version, device type and operating system, a random device identifier, and crash reports. This helps us fix problems and improve the games.
  • Advertising data, if you choose to watch an optional rewarded ad (see “Advertising” below).
  • Website analytics: on mathgamesapp.com we use Google Analytics to measure which pages are visited and how, using cookies or similar technologies.
  • Anything you send us when you contact us, such as your name, email and message.

How we use it

  • To run Math Games: keep your progress, streaks and stats, and power Friends and Challenges.
  • To unlock and restore Math Games Pro across your devices.
  • To show optional rewarded ads, and to measure how they perform.
  • To understand how the app is used, find and fix bugs and crashes, and decide what to build next.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse, cheating and fraud.
  • To answer your questions and support requests.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

Purchases and subscriptions

Math Games Pro is bought through Apple's App Store, which processes your payment. To manage subscriptions we use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives your purchase and subscription status, and an identifier (an anonymous ID, or your account ID if you are signed in), so that Pro unlocks correctly and can be restored on your other devices. RevenueCat acts on our behalf and does not use this information for its own advertising.

Advertising

Math Games shows optional, rewarded video ads, for example to unlock a hint, a solution, an extra life or a refill, or to restore a streak. Ads are never required to play. Subscribing to Math Games Pro removes them from these features. We use Google AdMob to serve the ads.

To do this, Google's Mobile Ads SDK may process your device's advertising identifier, your IP address (used to estimate general location), and information about the ads shown and how you interact with them, to serve and measure ads and to detect invalid traffic and fraud.

Math Games does not ask for Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission, so on iOS we do not track you across other companies' apps and websites, and ads are shown on a non-personalised basis. If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, we show a consent form (through Google's User Messaging Platform) before any ad-related data is processed, and you can reopen it from Settings in the app. You can also reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device's settings. Read more at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Analytics and crash reports

In the app we use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to record product events such as screens viewed, games started and finished, and settings changed, together with a random device identifier and crash reports. We use this to improve the app. It is not used to build advertising profiles.

On the website we use Google Analytics to measure page views and how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, or use Google's opt-out tools.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers who help us run Math Games, under contracts that require them to protect it:

  • Apple: payment for subscriptions, App Store distribution, and Sign in with Apple.
  • Supabase: hosting your account, progress and friends data.
  • RevenueCat: subscription management, as described above.
  • PostHog: in-app analytics and crash reports.
  • Google: AdMob rewarded ads in the app, and Google Analytics on the website.
  • Other players: your username (and challenge scores) are visible to friends and people you challenge.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect rights, safety and security. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as the law requires. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account), which removes your account, progress and friends data. Some information may remain in backups for a limited time. Purchase records may be kept as needed for accounting and legal reasons. If you play without an account, your data lives on your device and is removed when you delete the app or clear your browser data.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To use these rights, email playtestsco@gmail.com and we will respond within the time the law allows. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Legal bases (EEA and UK)

Where these laws apply, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the service you signed up for, and your subscription); legitimate interests (running, securing and improving Math Games); consent (for example advertising choices in the EEA and UK); and legal obligation.

Children

Math Games is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security and international transfers

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with an updated date, and tell you in the app if a change is significant.
