Monster Math is built to a school syllabus, for a child who is still learning what a number is. Its levels are graded by school year, its questions are untimed, and its story and characters are there to hold a young child's attention through a lesson.
If you already know your times tables and want to get faster, none of that applies to you. Math Games skips the story and the syllabus and goes straight to the practice: a clock, a question, four levels that scale by difficulty of the maths itself rather than by school year.
Monster Math rewards progress with stars and unlockable characters — the right incentive for a young child, not much use to an adult checking whether they're actually improving.
Math Games shows three plain numbers instead: your accuracy, your average answer time and your score, each compared with your own last week. If your division accuracy is 82% and everything else is 94%, you know exactly what to practise next.
